The Company was founded in 1993 by Lisa Rudes-Sandel and her father George Rudes, who saw a need in the market for stylish jeans as a sophisticated alternative for an older demographic. The Los Angeles-based Company includes a variety of styles, fabrics, and colors which has become popular among the fashion-conscious 35+-year old woman.
The brand uses the proprietary Tummy Tuck™ technology which flattens the stomach, contours hips, and lifts the buttocks using a combination of blended fabrics, proprietary crisscross stitching, and reinforced pockets. NYDJ’s unique products have developed a passionate and loyal following and are in strong demand by leading department store retailers such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, and Dillard’s, among others.
The Sage Group advised NYDJ in its sale of a majority interest to Falconhead Capital, LLC, a private equity firm specializing in investments in consumer-focused businesses in the leisure, lifestyle, sport, and media categories. The Rudes Family will continue to own a significant stake and be involved with the Company’s operations. The new partnership will focus on expanding in both domestic and international markets.
