Ambassador Ronald Spogli co-founded Freeman Spogli & Co., a private equity firm that currently manages three investment funds totaling approximately $2.7 billion in committed capital. Prior to founding Freeman Spogli, he was Managing Director of Dean Witter Reynolds’ Los Angeles M&A department.
In 2002, President George W. Bush appointed Ambassador Spogli to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. From August 2005 to February 2009, he served as the US Ambassador to the Italian Republic and the Republic of San Marino. Following his service, he rejoined Freeman Spogli in 2009. In the course of his involvement with Freeman Spogli, he has served on the board of directors of over twenty companies. Ambassador Spogli earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
